VJ Usina Contracting was founded by VJ Usina, III in 1969. He started with one employee and a tractor clearing land and quickly grew to a reputable site development company that everyone in St. Johns County knew. When he began, VJ understood the best way to achieve success was to share in the goals of every client, at every single stage of the process. A legacy was built on trust and hard work by establishing a solid foundation with customers, fostering lasting relationships, integrity, and honesty. All core values we honor to this day. When John Allen was hired in 1983 as a Foreman, he changed the trajectory of the company by managing larger and more complex projects. Shortly after the hire, he was promoted to Superintendent and then became a part owner in 1990.
VJ and John contributed many years and extensive experience to create what VJ Usina Contracting is known for – hard work, dedication and honesty… When our new owners purchased the company in 2018, they had all worked for the company in various capacities for many years. They were all fortunate to be mentored to follow the footsteps of the men who created Usina Contracting.

VJ Usina Contracting has remained locally owned and operated, giving us over 50 years’ experience as a contractor in Northeast Florida. We specialize in turn-key site development including, but not limited to Clearing, Earthwork, Drainage, Underground Utilities, Lift stations, Asphalt, and Concrete. As the company has grown and evolved over the years, we always remember our roots and where we started. On small and large projects alike, our goal is to always provide our clients with quality work, at a fair price, from a company they can trust.
